Intro - My new life as a specimen hunter...

Well after 6-7years out of the fishing scene I got back into it and got the bug again this time for keeps :)

Wasn't til late July I started again and armed with my new gear as my old stuff was cheap as I was only young when I had it and wasn't into fishing massively back then, I thought it was best to upgrade.
So over the course of July to sept I went out hunting for some big carp, the weather was a bit all over one day fine other days raining and other day scorching hot... This didn't really help with the adventure, we fished various venues in the hunt for a large carp and fair to say nothing special came from any venue! Woodlands at Thirsk produced my biggest fish of 11lb 4oz, but most carp came in around the 7-9lb mark, tbf we didn't travel to far for carp and I think that reflected, but next season I'll be heading further afield to bag a fish over my pb of 16.5lb.

Anyway summer and autumn past and winter set in and it was time to get the pike rods out, but this time me and a friend decided to travel a bit further and we have traveled to Scunthorpe/Doncaster/York and the odd other place, but same old story the weather has been awful and seems to of threw the pike off a bit! The first 4 session ended in 6 pike up to 9.9lb but then the next few sessions ended in nothing.
We then fished the winter lake at wykeham lake for pike but the pike didn't seem to be feeding, although no pike I did manage to catch my PB rainbow trout of bang on 4lb along with a 2lb 3oz trout.
A couple of weeks later we went on the hunt again and i got a good take resulting a 6lb pike from a venue in Yorkshire whilst a friend had a 16.2lb! Lucky sod!!!!...
We tried the venue again and resulted in one run... Back to the same old story, so that leads us to this week, we fished the local river and I got one knock on the float but again no pike... So next day we fished a local pond that has been left to rot and within half hour I had my first run and a pike of close to 6lb came out.. Pic below

Really thought it was gonna be the start of a good day but nope, not another touch! Gutted!... I'm praying the weather sorts it's self out, most ponds had frozen over the last fortnight and have started thowing out fairly quickly, followed by all the rain, the fish don't know whats hit them...
My next fishing day will be after Xmas now, hopefully things will improve as long as the world don't end on Friday :P
