First Carp Session - 24 Hours @ Catterick Complex

We arrived at around 5pm Monday, had a quick drive round the lakes and spoke to a taxi driver who said he fished the back lake all winter and faired quiet well, so we opted to fish the far bank of the back lake.. Got all the rods set up and baited up with pva bags and ground bait, plenty of fish topping, wind was spot on with a slight breeze.
I opted to fish 3 rods (bought two licence this year after my mate got caught fishing 3 rods), snowman rig, popup and a standard boilie was the hook bait..

So rods setup it was time to set up camp for the night, out come the fox royale bivvy (cracking bivvy I must admit), got the bed etc all setup, all gear put in bivvy so I didn't have to mess about later, so was all set for an evening to chill

Just as I had everything sorted the bloke fishing the other side of the pond had a run which resulted in a carp of 13lb, seemed promising!
We got the BBQ out and realised we had no sauce or booze, so I nipped to shop and got the essentials, just as I got to the shop my mate rang saying he had a nice fish on but got off, he was a bit upset cause he said the power of it was immense and it would of beat his pb carp of 14lb, anyway back to the complex and we started the BBQ..
Sirloin steak (english and hung for 20 days), chicken and sausages were on the menu!

We sat and had a laugh all night whilst getting p**sed but no more runs so was time to go to bed!.. Was windy as hell all night and the wind kept knocking the alarms off..
Morning come and no more fish, so we packed up and went onto the other lake.
We baited up and within a couple of hours my mate had a couple of runs, the next cast he had a run which managed to land.. To our surprise it was a 2.5lb brown trout, must of got in when the Rivers flooded the complex last autumn..

I got a bit bored so I got the sauce out and thought I would a go at being an artist..

What you think? Next piccaso possibly?? (after my fun I did clean it up lol)

Around 4pm I had my first run of the session but my drag was to loose and couldn't keep the tension on so it got off! Wounded...

Packed up around 6pm and headed home.. I think the venue is still struggling to recover from the floods, I dread to think how many carp he lost during the floods cause all 3 lakes joined onto the river for at least a week or so.. Either way I enjoyed my fishing trip..

Next venue: the willows @ oaks
